76What is tonsillitis?
Tonsillitis is one types of tonsil infections. In our body we have lymph nodes which secretes immunoglobulin and protects our body and increases our immunity. Tonsils is also a lymph nodes which is a part of our immune systems and its protects nose, ear, throat from the age 2 years to 6 years. Along with this in the pallet, the nasal area also have lymph nodes, and with the tonsil – this whole area is called walldare ring. But when tonsils are infected by the viral infections then the problem is called tonsillitis. Sometimes it can also caused by bacteria like streptococcus. In many cases it has been seen that with tonsillitis throat infections can be happened. So in this case we have to be careful with our kids.
Types of tonsillitis:
There are two types of tonsillitis.
1. Acute tonsillitis
2. Chronic tonsillitis
Symptoms of acute tonsillitis:
1. Fever
2. Shivering
3. Feel pain to swollen solid foods
4. Can have infections in the adenoids glands.
5. Kids can’t breathe properly.
6. Can’t sleep properly.
7. Can’t inhale properly mainly when lay down.
Symptoms of chronic tonsillitis:
1. Can’t smell anything and if they try to smell then they feel that it smells bad. In medical language it is halitosis.
2. Can’t sleep. At this times they afraid to sleep because when they lay down they can’t breathe properly. This problem is called somnambulism.
3. Snoring problem also arises.
4. Sometimes children face’s shapes changes. Chin comes a lit bit upper this is known as aedenedefacsis.
5. Headache
6. Sore throat
7. Ear infections
8. Fatigue
9. Bad breath
10. Saliva comes off very loftily.
Complications of tonsillitis:
- Tonsil infections may spread to the peritonsil and reptophyrengeal areas. Here pusses stored and infections can be more sever.
- Lungs can also be infected. Lungs can’t work properly and for this heart can’t circulate enough blood as a result pressure arises in the lungs and the right ventricle of heart becomes larger and in medical language it is known as right side heart failure. In these cases physician advice operations.
Diagnosis:
1.Throat culture:A throat culture is done to find out what types of viruses are responsible for the infections. According to this treatment is given to the patient. For the kids, the types of the infections are identified by rubbing the tonsil and the posterior part of the throats with a cotton sobs.
2.X-ray:By doing throats lateral x-ray it is seen that weather the infection is adenoid infections or not.
Treatment:
· If the tonsillitis is acute the antibiotic course has to be completed. To reduce the throat pain paracetamol is suggested.
· If the infection is viral infections then antibiotic isn’t necessary. In these cases physician suggested nasal drops and gargle for the kids.
· In cases of chronic tonsillitis, it is seen that if in a year 5 times the children having chronic tonsillitis and although giving antibiotics it doesn’t cured then the final treatment is the tonsil operations.
·If in one side tonsil becomes big then this is called tonsil neoplasm. In this cases immediately biopsies have to do to see that is it malignant or not. In this situation tonsil operation is must.
